And so it begins...

Today is January 17th 2011, and I, Audrey Rey, am starting to "officially" document my garden, and the wilderness around me! In return, sharing it with you! I'm sure many other "non plantsy"/ nature things will slip into this blog.
I am a Make-up Artist by day, and a raver by night...HAH! ... well maybe an ex raver these a days.
My spare time now is dedicated to taking photos and a gardening love affair with
drought tolerant species. It was a matter of time the two collided!
Enjoy

Turnbull Canyon January 2011

January 24th about 1:30PM Turnbull Canyon (between Whittier and Hacienda Heights/ 60 fwy meets the 605 view) Everything is so lush after the unusual heavy winter rains for Southern California!
This canyon has been my back yard for the last 30 years. I have a special connection with it's curvy roads and mystical winds. Some say it was a satanic worshiping grounds, books say it was an ancient native war ground. The Buddhist built their temple on the opposing canyons, because of its "magical winds and position' On a clear day you have the best LA view. Downtown to Long Beach to Catalina. Behind you is the foothills and Mt Baldy!
Sometimes I feel I am the only one who appreciates its seasonally changing beauty!

Close but yet so far... (Thank the breeze for the view of the skyline through the smog)

Dried Thistle from the year before.
Where's the hummingbird...look close, his colors blend with the foliage!
